WASHINGTON - House Agriculture Chairman David Scott delivered the following statement after today's hearing titled “A 2022 Review of the Farm Bill: Stakeholder Perspectives on Non-SNAP USDA Nutrition Programs.” “Each day, USDA’s nutrition programs, including The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR), Gus Schumacher Nutrition Incentive Program (GusNIP), the Seniors Farmers' Market Nutrition Program, the Healthy Food Financing Initiative, and Community Food Projects, serve millions of Americans by providing those most in need with access to nutritious food,” said Chairman David Scott. “Today’s hearing was a critical one as we continue to review the 2018 Farm Bill and look toward the 2023 Farm Bill. The farm bill’s nutrition programs are significant programs that support our nation’s food system from the farmer to the retailer to the consumer. I look forward to working together to improve upon the success of these critical programs.” Video of Chairman Scott’s opening statement can be found here.
