WASHINGTON – House Agriculture Committee Ranking Member David Scott today released the following statement in response to the Environmental Protection Agency’s decision to issue an emergency fuel waiver to allow E15 gasoline – gasoline blended with 15 percent ethanol – to be sold during the summer driving season.
"Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has not just shocked our conscience with its depravity, but it has also shocked global energy markets by upending world trade. I commend the Biden-Harris Administration and Administrator Regan’s decision to accelerate the sale of E15 for this summer’s driving season, which helps right the ship by giving American consumers additional options and lowering costs at the pump.
"The decision to grant this emergency fuel waiver also supports the interests of America’s farmers and biofuel industry, which in turn strengthens U.S. energy security. At a time of continued economic uncertainty caused by Russia’s illegal war, it is more important than ever for the Federal Government to secure the interests of our domestic fuel supply, agriculture sector, and hardworking families."
