House Agriculture Committee Ranking Member David Scott today released the following statement regarding the Biden Administration’s request for $24 billion to assist rural communities impacted by the deadly Hurricanes Helene and Milton and other disasters. The money would provide help to farmers who experienced crop or livestock losses, repair rural infrastructure, remove debris from impacted communities, and support food and nutrition programs.

“America is at its best when we come together and support one another. President Biden has seen the destruction and loss suffered in the Southeast and is taking seriously the need for help there and in other regions of the country. The $24 billion requested by the President will help address the impacts faced by our farmers and rural households over the last two years. I wholeheartedly support this funding and call on my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to respond to this pressing need by passing the requested aid without delay.”
